Also , I've revived the ability of site members to blog on Vt Ukes web page.  It was getting stale a while back, so I discontinued it. However, we have lots of ukers with an amazing array of ukulele insights & a knack for the written word, so let's give it a go, shall we?...

So, what can you do when the power goes out & there's a snow day?   I was confronted with this very dilemma last week when my power flickered on & off for about 8 hours, then went off completely for 24 hours.  So here's my list:

Here's an interesting research find I made relating to the word, 'ukulele'.  I have Cherokee ancestory, and the specific details have become lost over the years.  A couple days ago I found an article on the internet entitled, 'The Seven Ceremonies', by Rob Wood. It's been a busy week for the Vermont Ukulele Society!  Last week we had an extra practice to tidy up the intros & outros on our song set for the Bristol Harvest Festival on Sept. 26th.  Then there was the festival performance itself.  In Kitty's words, "WE ROCKED!"  I agree!  We stepped up to the mics and just wailed!  Our mini set included Ukulele Lady, My Little Grass Shack, Hello Ma Baby, Five Foot Two, Button Up Your Overcoat, and Love Pot...

VtUkes was a lot of fun tonight!  New folks & new tunes! (Old tunes really, but new to us as a group!). I really enjoyed Love Potion #9 and the Beatles tunes. I've really missed taking part in our get togethers, and now that my summertime musical groups have wrapped up I can spend more time on the ukulele.
