When the Power Goes Out

Posted by Fran on March 10, 2010 at 7:55 PM

So, what can you do when the power goes out & there's a snow day?   I was confronted with this very dilemma last week when my power flickered on & off for about 8 hours, then went off completely for 24 hours.  So here's my list:

  1. Clip the fingernails of your left hand
  2. Humidify all wooden instruments
  3. Alphabetize your Vermont Ukulele Society Songbook
  4. Organize all your ukulele books, DVDs, and CDs
  5. Find a new song in the newly alphabetized Vt Ukes Songbook & Jumpin' Jim books
  6. Practice (actually PRACTICE) your ukulele
  7. Locate your kazoo, siren, bicycle horn, ratchet, slide whistle, washtub bass and all other novelty instruments so they are ready for the next BIG gig.
  8. Polish the ukes & clean the dust bunnies under the strings between the soundhole & bridge
  9. Memorize a song (WHAT?!? memorize?!?! what's that?)
  10. Perform for an appreciative audience (or any audience, in my case, my doggies!)
