Hi Carolyn!
How to get started... 1-Find a regular place & time to meet. If no public place, how about someone's home in the beginning stage.(or how about Big Joe's in Newport!) 2-Advertise: stores, craigslist, newspaper, invite some guitar players, singers & other music types 3-Host a showing of The Mighty Uke movie as a kick off. 4- go to the fleamarketmusic.com bulletin board & do a search on starting a uke club, lotsa great advice there 5-get some instruction. watch & play through some instructional videos together if you can (Ralph Shaw Essential STrums & Jim Beloff Joy of Uke vol 1 come to mind, PLUS many videos by Ukulele Mike Lynch on YouTube. I've listed a few on this site) 6-start developing a repertoire of favorite songs & perform at a senior citizens event Hope this helps! Fran
Would love to have a uke club in the nek but do not know where to begin ...
